Hurka Does: Bad SyFy Movies: Sharknado

Hello again everyone!  It has been a while since I last posted anything here, but with tonight's airing of Sharknado 2, I felt that the time was right to jump into a subject that I have loved for quite some time.  You see, I love bad SyFy movies.  I don't love them just to love them, I love to celebrate them for how bad they are.  You see, anyone can tell you how good The Godfather or Citizen Kane is.  I'm here to tell you how badly good some of these movies are, and we're going to start with the original Sharknado.

Before we get started though, I want to introduce you to my grading scale that I'll use for these movies: the Sharktopus. Say hi to the Sharktopus!

Don't worry, I'm going to get to that movie soon enough, but for now, let me explain how the grading scale works.  Basically, I'm going to grade what I want to grade in the movie on a scale from One Sharktopus to Five Sharktopi.  There are Half Sharktopi as well, so there's some room in there.

Now that we have that out of the way, it's time to watch Sharknado!

The Eagles Season Is Over: A Look Back

For a week, Eagles fans heard the same things over and over again.  They heard that the Saints had never won a road playoff game, that Drew Brees wasn't the same quarterback on the road, that the Saints had limped into the playoffs and that the Eagles were the hot team.  Well, as of about 11:20 on Saturday night, the Saints had won a road playoff game, and while Brees was not his best, he did just enough to get New Orleans past the Eagles and into the next round of the playoffs.

Just like that, the 2013 Philadelphia Eagles season is over.

Hurka Does Sports: Eagles Breakdown: Chargers 33, Eagles 30

It took me a few days to get over this game, and even though the Eagles looked good doing a few things against San Diego on Sunday, there were certainly some issues out there as well.  It's clear that Chip Kelly's offense isn't perfect yet, and the defense...well, that's not that good right now.  Let's dive in and see how things went.

Hurka Does Sports: Eagles Breakdown: Eagles 33, Redskins 27

A new NFL season is here, and the first Eagles game of the season has come and gone.  Chip Kelly made his initial impression on the NFL last night with a 33-27 win over the defending NFC East champion Washington Redskins on Monday Night Football.  While the Eagles did get the win, there is still plenty of room for improvement, as well as plenty to be happy about.  Let's break it down.

Hurka Does MMA: UFC 1: The Beginning

So here's the deal.  The Phillies are simply going through the motions until their season is over, the Eagles are three weeks away from having games count, and the Sixers and Flyers are still in the offseason.  There's only so many lists that I can count down, and I really don't want to start another one, so I'm going to move in another direction for now.  For those of you that don't know, I'm also a huge MMA fan, specifically the UFC.  I also either physically have or have on my hard drive almost every UFC event ever.  While I doubt I'm going to get through them all, there's no harm in trying, right?

So, I'm going to start from the beginning, and work my way as close as I can to present day.  I'm not saying how long it's going to take me to get there, but let's get this party started.  To do so, we're going to take a trip 20 years into the past.  Bill Clinton had just entered the Oval Office, Jurassic Park was in theaters and the Phillies were on their way to their first National League pennant in 10 years.  In the world of mixed martial arts, things were just getting started.  In November of 1993 in Denver, Colorado, an organization held a tournament to see who the best fighter on the planet was, and the UFC was born.  Let's look back, shall we?

Hurka Does Sports: Top 100 Philadelphia Athletes of All Time: #10-1

It has taken more time than I even want to think about, but we have finally reached the end.  We've gone through 90 other athletes that have impacted Philadelphia sports, and now, we've reached the final ten members of this list.  By this point, just about anyone reading this is going to know the names of the people on this list, it's just a matter of where they are going to be.  So, let's get into the end of this list.

Hurka Does Sports: Top 100 Philadelphia Athletes of All Time: #20-11

It has taken more time than I ever thought it would, but we have officially reached the Top 20 of this list of the Top 100 Philadelphia Athletes of All Time. As we get closer and closer to the top of this list, there are going to be names that could very well be switched with someone else at this point, but remember that everyone from this point on is the cream of the crop when it comes to Philadelphia sports.
